Character Walk Cycle

Here is the final version of my character walk cycle. It was my first time animating a character in Flash, but I liked working on this. Seeing your character go from early sketch to actually moving around took a lot of steps, but it was worth it in the end.

Higher quality version can be seen by clicking on through to the youtube page.

Acting Lessons

This was my final project for cgt 341.  Had to animate a scene to a given sound clip.  The sound clip is from 30 Rock.

Higher quality version can be seen on the video's youtube page.

Character Development.2

Vector version of my character design.  Walk cycle animation study coming next...

Character Development

I'm currently working on a final project where we have to create and develop a character. Once the character has been created and finalized, we are to animate a walk cycle in flash that would fit that character's body shape/size, and personality. My character's name is bac, and here are some sketches leading up to a more finalized look for the character. The sketch done in the red ink is a more finalized version and likely close to what the final character will look like.

A vectorized version of the character and animation study of the character's walk cycle will be posted soon.

Kinetic Typography

This was created for a kinetic typography project. The whole animation was done in Flash. The song is Royksopp - So Easy. This song will be stuck in your head for a long time, but at least it's a really good song.

As with my other youtube videos on here, you can follow them to the youtube page for a higher quality version. The high quality version doesn't seem to be working right now, but I'll check again later and re-upload if it's not working.

Lip Sync and Facial Animations

Here is a recently finished Lip Sync animation and some facial animations I did a few weeks ago.

The audio clip for this animation is of Joey Mousepad from Futurama.

This second animation was made to show the six basic facial expressions using morph targets.

Both of these can be seen in high quality versions if you follow them to the youtube page.

Advanced Max Rig (walk,sneak,lift)

Just finished these three for class.  Used the Max rig for 3ds Max.  Took a while to get used to the rig, but it's really good, you can do a lot of stuff with it.  Next up for the class is some facial animation and lipsynching.

Lift.

Sneak.

Walk.

You can go to the youtube page for each animation for a higher quality video option.

Veer Redesign.Final

Here are my final designs for the veer interface.  From top to bottom inspired by: movie/2001: A Space Odyssey, painting/Matisse's "Snail", music/Ochre - Me and My Variflex, and print ad/Jeep.  These specific inspirations for the designs can be found in previous posts.  I'm pretty happy with how they all came out, it was a really cool project.

Here are also some sketches done for different types of layouts for the inspirations, forgot to post them.

Veer Redesign work in progress.2

Update.2 on the Veer redesign work.  This time, for the interface design inspired by my movie choice, 2001: A Space Odyssey.  I like the way it came out, real clean.  I think the colors and white space came out well based off of the styles in the movie, as you can see in some more screens from the movie.  Now, just need to do the interface based on music, and finish up the two other interfaces in the previous post.

Veer Redesign work in progress.1

These are some early comps of redesigned layouts for veer.com based on inspirational media shown in the previous post.

This concept is based around my print ad, using some of the colors and ideas of color blends.  I like it so far, pretty clean layout.  I'm trying to make my concepts and layouts for these look like a site that I would actually want to go to and use.  To me, I think their search is the most important thing for the veer site, because people are going to the site to look for specific pictures, typefaces, or illustrations to purchase.  I'll probably have the search bar be prominent and at the top in most of my layouts, with the big banner being number 2.

This concept for veer is based on the Matisse painting titled "snail" that I chose.  I like it so far, but need to find better positioning for veer news so it doesn't feel like it's floating there.  I've got a good start on these, but need to start getting comps for the movie and song inspirations next.

Veer Interface Redesign Inspiration.

I am currently in the process of redesigning the front page veer.com interface.  I'll create four different designs each based upon inspiration from four different media, print ad, movie, music, and painting.

For my movie, I picked 2001: A Space Oddysey.  It's a really visual movie, so it will have a lot of opportunities to use the colors, shapes, and layout of scenes in the website interface.

For my music selection, I picked a song from Ochre titled Me and My Variflex.  The music style is kind of old school orchestrated blips and bleeps, which can make a cool interface design that's kind of like pixel art.  This youtube video is for a different song, but you get a sense of his style.

I chose this Matisse painting because I think it could make for a very cool interface where buttons and image holders have a paper cutout feel and some texture to them.

This is a really cool print ad for jeep.  I'll probably incorporate the idea of blending colors into the interface for this one.

Illustration Friday "Island"

Here's my submission for this week's IF topic, Island.  The polar bear is sad because the man keeps trying to bring him down with his global warming.  I made this all in illustrator, with some cropping in photoshop.  I think Al Gore would approve.  Enjoy!

Illustration Friday "Clutter"

Here's a last minute submission for Illustration Friday's topic this week, clutter.  Drawings were done in Corel Painter, text in Illustrator.  Pretty happy with the outcome from a few hours of work.  Go OBAAAAMA!

TASI final logo.

Here is the final logo for TASI.  I had a lot of other concepts before I got to this one, and I'll probably post those sometime this week so you can see the changes the logo went through.

Tasi Comps.

These are my three comprehensives for the TASI logo.  Had some other ideas worked out that I also liked, but they didn't make the cut.  Might post the ones that didn't make it sometime in the future.  I'm leaning to the second one with the traffic sign for the final logo, but not completely sure yet.

TASI Thumbs.

Working on redesigning the TASI (Transportation Active Safety Institute) logo.  Here, I've got some thumbs for you.  Look at them!  A couple of these ideas should lead to pretty good comps coming next week.
